Course Overview

This course describes the general approach to health risk assessment, including the role of atmospheric monitoring, selection of the appropriate equipment to measure specific airborne contaminants and devising a suitable sampling strategy.

Course Objectives

To provide attendees with an understanding of the techniques for assessing exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace and with an understanding of how exposure information can be used to assess risk.

Attendees will also be able to present the results in a form that would be useful for health risk assessment purposes which will enable management to comply with relevant legislations.

Personnel managing workplace safety and health, workplace safety and health professionals, and consultants and professionals who are involved in the management of hazardous substances.

Course Assessment

A multi-choice question (MCQ) examination will be held and is an open-book examination based on the student manual.

Pre-requisite and Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN)

Whilst there is no pre-requisite for this course, it is recommended that attendee is certified with the Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene (OHTA201) certification. Ideally, a WPLN Level 5 or equivalent IELTS 5-6 would be recommended to ensure quality comprehension of the subject matter. 

Examination resits are required to be completed within 12 months from the date of your first attempt at the qualification. Get in touch with us for clarification and to register. 

Certificate

OHTA will issue a certificate of successful course completion to candidates who have successfully completed the course.

This course is a core module for the International Occupational Hygiene Certificate.
